Workshop Code: W0310NOEL
Tutor: NOEL MILLER: From the Ground Up: Landscape Painting using Found Ochres (Acrylics)
Every year Noel Miller and colleagues run an Artists’ Camp in the Australian outback at which artists use found ochres supplemented with natural pigments working the “wet on wet” technique. Texture is introduced onto the canvas, with students concentrating on improving the composition of their work. Students are encouraged to paint in a variety of styles , from traditional to abstract, so be prepared to move outside the square. A range of ochres and pigments will be supplied, and you can supplement these with your own acrylic paints. This workshop is focused on helping beginners, but will also suit more advanced painters. Noel Miller is a full-time artist whose practice covers landscape, figurative and woodcuts as well as mixed media work. His landscapes have won the Warwick Prize and been hung in the Norvill Prize twice, the Blake Prize, and the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award. Suit all levels.
