Anna Niblic Heggie
Internationally represented, Australian artist, Anna Heggie creates art to make meaning and foster global understanding and peace. Anna works from her studio residence at Lennox Head on the Far North Coast of NSW, Australia and signs her work 'Niblic'.
Born in Sydney of Polish immigrants she started painting at an early age, her first oil painting was at about 12. Anna studied at 19 for three years intensively with Tonal Impressionist painter, Fred Martin, from the Max Meldrum School. She learnt to paint in strict tonalism which she later disregarded for more personal freedom. However, the most important aspect of that period came from regular philosophical conversation on art and life that sustained a deeper enquiry into seeing and a lifetime commitment to the arts.
Her work has taken her on many journeys which have led to many overseas exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops, symposiums and lectures.
Anna is both a painter and photographer and this has become integral to her visual expression. Her paintings have become more photographic and her photography, more painterly.
Anna ran a number of Photographic Art Workshops for teachers two years ago in regional NSW and was flown by the NSW Department of Education to outback locations all around the state.
During 08 Anna ran artist’s workshops in Brisbane with Brisbane Artists Academe and more are scheduled during 09.
Anna is a presenter for the television series of Arts Masterclass recorded at QCTV in Brisbane. It had its first screening in mid November 08 and will be available on DVD early next year. See www.niblic.com for details.
She has recently completed a Yoga Teacher Training Course and intends to run workshops next year which will be a combination of restorative yoga, relaxation and art.
Life as an artist has been challenging, not always easy but never dull.
Anna have an online gallery www.niblic.com where you can view many more of her artworks.
