G W Smith

Master Pastellist, Graham W. Smith, has won over 120 first prizes in all mediums over the last ten years including many major acquisitive awards. In 2000, Government House commissioned six watercolours for their permanent collection and these are on display at Paddington, Brisbane. His commissions have included the Commonwealth Government with painting of Customs House, Brisbane, over 62 works for St Andrews Hospital, Brisbane, Japan Airlines, more than 35 paintings for RMC, Brisbane Calendars, artists impressions for boat builders and building construction companies as well as colour boards for interior decorators.

In 2005 Graham received a scholarship from The Pastel Society of America in New York and Arts Queensland provided a $3,300 travel grant to undertake this study with tuition in portraiture, still life and landscape/seascapes. Graham has held over 16 successful exhibitions in NSW and Queensland, including Inverell Art Gallery, Logan Art Gallery, Childers Art Gallery and at other venues including the Queensland Law Society Convention at the Marriott Hotel, Surfers Paradise.

Graham is an exhibiting member of the Royal Queensland Art Society, The Watercolour Society of Queensland and the Half Dozen Group of Artists.

With over 20 workshops in all mediums booked in 2007, Graham has been in heavy demand, having conducted over 70 workshops in NSW, SA, WA and Queensland in the last five years. Most recently, Graham has been chosen as one of the key presenters of the Briz31 television programme, Masterclass, which will be shown in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
