Teaching Experience:
To date I have approximately 8000 contact hours of experience teaching art in private institutions, industry, adult education, vocational training and higher education sectors, with particular emphasis on teaching life drawing and colour theory.
Billy Blue College of Design, North Sydney, NSW 2006 - present
Lecturer responsible for:
- The first year drawing component for the main (February) intake of the Advanced Diploma in Communication Design (2006-2008), comprising the subjects Introduction to Drawing and Develop Drawing Styles. The subjects cover a comprehensive range of topics including basic drawing skills, perspective, tone, colour, and composition.
Landmarks in the Development of Drawing and Design to 1900, an eight-week component of the subject Design Culture and Theory in the Associate Degree in Communication Design. Topics covered include art history, basic drawing skills, perspective, composition, and colour.
Walt Disney Animation Aust./Disneytoons Studio, Sydney, NSW 2000 - 2006
- Drawing teacher responsible for the life drawing component of the training programme for the biannual intake of new trainees; 3 to 5 hours per week for up to 40 weeks per year.
- Also periodically gave seminars in colour theory for the Backgrounds Department, and one-off sessions for animation teams to help them with specific characters.
Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney, NSW 1996 - present
- Fundamentals of Life Drawing course (1996- present): conceived, devised and presented this weekly course from its beginning; supervised assistant tutors. Four 2.5 hour-classes per week, forty weeks per year.
- Fundamentals of Life Drawing workshop (1996- present): Five-day workshop, presented up to four times annually.
- Colour, Light and Vision workshop (1998 - present): Five-day workshop, presented up to five times annually.
National Art School, Darlinghurst, NSW 2004 annually to present
- Guest lecturer (two lectures per term) in anatomy and life drawing in the 2nd - 3rd year elective Drawing the Figure with Dr. Christopher Allen.
