PAUL MCDONALD SMITH

 

Paul McDonald Smith has practiced as a professional artist all his adult life. Born Melbourne 1956, he is a traditional painter of landscape, still life and portraits and is particularly known for his flower painting, mostly in oil. Past president of the Victorian Artist Society he is currently president of the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society – one of Australia’s most respected and historic art associations. In 2005, Paul was named in the Queens Birthday Honours and invested with the Medal of the Order of Australia, for “Service to the Visual Arts.”

Studies:

Scotch College, Melb. Fine Art, R.M.I.T., 1976 - ‘78. Private study 1973 - ’79 under various artists including mentor Sir William Dargie C.B.E. European Study 1975, 1978 - ‘79, 1986 (Scholarship), and 1991.

Exhibitions:

Six Major Solo Exhibitions (Melb.)1980, ‘82, ‘83, ‘87, ‘90, ‘93. VAS Exhibitions since 1976. TMPS Exhibitions since 1998. Many Group / invitational exhibitions since 1974.
