Penelope Gilbert-Ng

 

I am a painter that is who I am. I have painted since I was 3 and for 53 years have studied, explored and enjoyed my learning processes on how I want to communicate visually the effect of light on my subjects to an audience.

For me the shadows created by a light source are in a sense equally important in creating shapes, tone and composition required to paint an enjoyable painting.

I paint in all mediums and love painting from life. I have a Painting Diploma from East Sydney Technical College(1971) , been a finalist in Portia Geach and Archibald Portrait Prizes (1973/74) and commissioned to paint leading politicians including Sir Michael Somare, Sir John Guise and Sir Barry Holloway.

I have studied in New York(2003) and New Mexico(2007) and have gained many awards in all mediums and my paintings are in private collections World Wide.

I am a judge and an experienced workshop tutor and have written articles for Australian Artist Magazine 2002/2006.
