P.S.  If you have already booked directly with myself, then please be assured that a place has been held for you.

WINNERS OF SCHOLARSHIP

Thanks to everyone who entered.  The judges commented that the problem many of the paintings submitted was not a problem of technique.   The technique was quite solid.  The comment was that if more time was spent looking (at the subject and at your painting), many problems that revealed themselves would be solved.  Here are some areas in which we believe will provide some benefit:

  • Horizon lines weren’t straight (easily fixed)
  • Elipses of containers were skewed  (easily fixed)
  • Colours in the mid-ground were the same as the foreground (keep the rules in mind)
  • Lack of colour harmony (Use a limited palette)
  • Drawing problems (not looking or paying attention)
  • Painting an image that is copyrighted (from someone else’s photograph ) – keep it original
  • Lack of forethought in arranging the composition – lack of planning
  • Tonal problems – (not looking or paying attention)
  • Painting not finished in certain parts (make sure the painting is finished to the same degree all over)
